LAYLA HAIDRANI

TV / RADIO APPEARANCES

I make regular appearances in the media on TV, radio and podcasts.

I was invited to appear on BBC Four’s documentary ‘What Do Artists Do All Day?’ featuring leading artist Mahtab Hussain on his photographic project documenting the changing identity of British Muslim women. Alongside my twin sister, we discussed the debate about the portrayal of millennial Muslim women in contemporary society. It was broadcast on August 15, 2018 on a primetime evening slot.

BBC Asian Network

I appeared as part of their Festive Survival Guide alongside radio broadcaster Mim Shaikh where I debate whether Christmas is an excuse for consumerism. I was invited in response to my Metro.co.uk article on how Muslims spend Christmas.

Youth Rising by NCS

I appeared on Youth Rising by NCS, a podcast for young people, made by young people. I discussed the role of memes and fast fashion in millennial culture and the ways we use them.

I’ve also made other appearances on radio including BBC South East and Dubai Eye 103.8, the latter discussing the reality of life in the Emirates as a British expat.
